"Never forget the roots of your family"

A little serious of our mind:

Try to imagine, that your grandchildren can´t speak with you in your language......

Learn your family the language of the roots, so your family - children can speak their language from childhood!

Learn your family the culture of the roots, so your family understand and respect the roots e.g. Mano Po!

What do REAL FILIPINOS look like?

Many netizens online are arguing if Miss Philippines candidates or Filipino celebrities are in European or Indian descents, whereas the real thing is, most of them are pure-blood Filipinos. This makes foreign people think that all Filipinos should look similar in most features. Such as Koreans in Korea, Chinese in China, or Caucasians in Western and European countries.

The Higaunon people of Northern Mindanao
Through the Bukidnon Highlands: rainforests, lost tribes and cool weather

The Talaandig, Matigsalug, Manobo, Tigwahanon, Higaonon, Umayamnon and Bukidnon tribes are all still very active in indigenous ways within this region today

The Matigsalug (Matigsalog)

are the Bukidnon groups who are found in the Tigwa-Salug Valley in San Fernando in Bukidnon province, Philippines. "Matigsalug" is a term, which means "people along the Salug River (now called the Davao River)". Although often classified under the Manobo tribe, the Matigsalug is a distinct sub-group of indigenous peoples from the Manobos. They are described splinter group of the Manobo immigrants (Malayo-Polynesian origin) from the highlands to mainland Sulu. Oral tradition has said that their original settlement was at the mouth of Salug River. 77,134 hectares of land was awarded to them as their ancestral domain.

Ethnic Minority Groups In The Philippines
Photographs of Tribal people 1910´s.

Under the American occupation of the Philippines, and while mainstream Hispanic Filipinos were being exterminated by the million, the American eye felt inclined to portray the peoples who gave an impression of rusticity and wilderness in remote, non-Malay, not deeply Hispanized areas of the Philippines, both justifying their uplifting aims and the wonder and consent of Americans at home. Photos from Dean C. Worcester's collection [University of Michigan digital collections], taken in 1901. Dean Conant Worcester, D.Sc., F.R.G.S. (October 1, 1866 - 1924) was an American zoologist, public official, and authority on the Philippines, born at Thetford, Vermont, and educated at the University of Michigan (A.B., 1889). From 1899 to 1901 he was a member of the United States Philippine Commission; thenceforth until 1913 he served as secretary of the Interior for the Philippine Insular Government.

Bikers to heaven

Ifugao wooden bikes

Tourism seems to be gradually shifting the function of bikes from being a logistic need to a sort of choreographed F1 show the racing event which takes place in Imbayah, their festival. While so, tourism plays the important role of continuing the relevance of these wooden bikes for the Ifugao people, and in the part of the observers, having us realize the magnitude and depth of the different cultures outside of our urban backyards. – Paolo Abellanosa

Long time ago the Tingguian and Igorot tribes  intermarried and it did not  take long enough they formed another tribe. However, both tribes had different dialects. Thus, the result of the  intermarriage resulted to one dialect derived from the “Tingguian of Abra” and  “Igorot of Cordillera” - born the “Itneg” of the newly formed tribe.

The Tuboy Subanon of the Philippines

The Tuboy Subanon live on the island of Mindanao. All of the Tuboy Subanon are farmers who practice "slash and burn" agriculture. This is a type of farming in which a section of forest is cut down, the debris is burned, and various crops are planted on the clearing. Every year a new field is cleared. After one or two years of use, the field must lie fallow for up to 15 years.
